Elkhart Conn 88H Large Bore Tenor Trombone for sale in Athens, GA
Elkhart 88H made in 1969. Per the pictures, it has a fair amount of lacquer wear and scratching throughout, but only a few tiny dings in the tuning slides. The slide is good for a 54 yr old horn, but not perfect (maybe an 8-8.5/10). Unless you're planning to play Carnival of Venice, it's perfectly adequate. The valve is smooth and quiet. The horn has been chemically cleaned and it plays great--dark compact sound that you expect from an 88H. As an added bonus, the high register is remarkably good, there are no intonation quirks, no bad registers/notes, and it is very predictable and easy to play. Though all the soldering is fine (I had it checked) it does vibrate a little at high volumes between the G above middle C and the A above middle C, though it doesn't come across in recordings or affect the playability. Comes with a case but not a mouthpiece. If shipping is less than the flat rate, I'll refund the difference.
